Description
Hair mask with argan oil, shea butter concentrate and green tea for dry and damaged hair.
Wet hair absorbs water and swells, causing the cuticle scales to lift. This makes the period before the hair has fully dried its most vulnerable stage. Yet this is precisely when hair is often wrung out, wrapped tightly in a towel and pulled through with a comb. If the strands become tangled after washing and the comb gets caught, the lengths need additional moisture and protection. The Nourishing Hair Mask smooths the cuticle, improves combability and leaves a protective layer on the hair that lasts until the next wash.
Its rich, creamy texture spreads easily through damp hair without weighing it down. After using the mask, the hair feels soft, smooth and manageable. Suitable for dry, porous, brittle, coloured, bleached, wavy and curly hair, as well as dry lengths combined with oily roots.
The mask first helps restore an acidic pH, encouraging the raised cuticle scales to lie flatter against the hair shaft. A conditioning layer then forms over the surface, filling irregularities in porous areas and preventing individual strands from catching on one another.
Argan oil replenishes some of the lipids removed during shampooing. It is rich in oleic and linoleic acids and naturally occurring tocopherols. Some remain on the surface, while others penetrate the outer layers of the hair fibre. As a result, the strands are less likely to catch on one another and are better able to withstand the mechanical stress of combing.
Instead of whole shea butter, the formulation contains its unsaponifiable fraction, which is rich in phytosterols and vitamin E. The heavier lipid fraction that can weigh the hair down has been excluded, allowing the mask to nourish the lengths without compromising volume.
The formula also contains a film-forming polymer with a UV filter that adheres to the hair and provides the lengths with additional protection. Until the next wash, it helps reduce colour fading and dryness caused by sun exposure. Green tea complements this action by helping slow the oxidation of lipids on the hair’s surface.
Directions for use
Apply the required amount to clean, damp hair. Distribute evenly through the lengths, comb through, leave on for five minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Garnet cosmetologist tip
Before applying the mask, gently squeeze out excess water with your hands or blot the hair with a towel. If the hair is too wet, the mask becomes diluted and runs off, meaning that much of the product may be rinsed away before it has time to act.
Apply the mask from the mid-lengths to the ends, avoiding the roots. The roots receive sufficient natural lipids from the scalp, while an additional conditioning layer may weigh them down and reduce volume. The mask can be paired with any Shampooderm shampoo: for dry hair, for normal and oily hair, or for dandruff-prone hair.
While the mask is on the hair, gently comb through the lengths using a wide-toothed comb. Begin at the ends and gradually work upwards. This distributes the product more evenly and detangles the hair without unnecessary stretching.
No hair mask can permanently repair split ends, so it cannot replace regular trimming. However, it can help the ends look smoother and better maintained.
