Description
A scar care gel with acetylcysteine, hyaluronic acid, urea and hesperidin.
A scar can remain raised, firm, rough or noticeably different in colour long after the skin has healed. It may itch, feel tight and remain uncomfortable during everyday movement. Keloderm is designed for targeted care once the wound has fully closed and scar tissue has begun to form. The gel softens the scar, improves its pliability, smooths uneven texture and helps reduce feelings of tightness and itching. As it dries, it forms a thin protective film over the surface. Suitable for new and mature scars following surgery, injury, burns, inflammation or rapid stretching of the skin, including hypertrophic and keloid scars.
As the skin heals, new collagen fibres are laid down and gradually become more densely organised and cross-linked. This dense structure can make the scar more noticeable and uncomfortable. Acetylcysteine acts on protein bonds within the scar tissue, helping to reduce stiffness so the scar gradually feels softer and more pliable and becomes less noticeable.
Hyaluronic acid and glycerin attract and retain moisture in the skin’s uppermost layer, helping relieve the dryness that can make a scar look rough and feel tight. Better hydration leaves the area feeling softer, more supple and more comfortable as the scar matures.
Urea softens rough, thickened skin and helps smooth uneven texture. As the skin becomes softer and less dry, the scar feels more comfortable in areas where clothing rubs against it.
Hesperidin is included for scars that remain pink or red long after the skin has healed. By supporting capillary walls and helping reduce their permeability, it can make the underlying redness less visible. Over time, the scar looks less red and blends more evenly with the surrounding skin.
Active ingredients
- acetylcysteine 0.5%
- hyaluronic acid 0.3%
Directions for use
Apply a small amount of gel directly to clean, dry skin in the scar area. Spread in a thin, even layer and allow it to dry to form a protective film.
Garnet cosmetologist tip
Start by applying the gel every few hours, then use it less often as the scar heals and softens. As a general guide, apply six times a day during weeks 1–2, four times a day during weeks 3–4, then two or three times a day after that.
Reapply whenever the scar begins to feel dry, tight, itchy or rough again. New scars usually respond sooner, while older, firmer scars tend to need longer-term, consistent use.
Begin using Keloderm only once the wound has fully closed. Do not apply to open or draining wounds or to irritated skin.
